...how about a friendly reminder of what will be legal to import in 2018.
- AC Brooklands Ace (good luck finding one, though...)
- DeTomaso Guara (yet again, good luck finding one...)
- Fiat Coupe
- Fiat Punto
- Ford Falcon [ED] and the commercial version [XG]
- Holden Commodore [VR]
- Second generation Lancia Delta
- Mazda Lantis
- Peugeot 306
- Proton Wira
- Renault Laguna
- Rover 600
- SEAT Cordoba
- Ssangyong Musso/Musso Sports
- Suzuki Wagon R
Unlike next year, cars that will be newly legal to import consist mostly of more mundane vehicles, including some from Spain, South Korea, and Malaysia.
There’s some Aussie stuff in there, though, along with two extremely rare machines from the UK and Italy.

The FD RX-7 is next year, right?
The NSX-R is either next year or the year after, but I doubt anyone here who’d want one has $130k lying around.

Not sure how many if any Rover 600s there will be, even now where I live, there used to be quite a few but I can’t say I’ve seen one for several months if not years.

Not legal anytime soon but I really want a 306 Maxi. No idea why, I just think they are really cool.

Lantis Type R, just for the wing...
...and 2.0 V6...

Production started in ‘91 but I imagine it was billed as a ‘92 model, so I would assume next year.
The NSX-R will be available next year as well.

Yep. I mentioned that in my post on cars that will be legal starting next year earlier today.

Hmm, would there be any particular reason someone would want to import a Wira? Most ‘93 Wiras have been crashed, rusted beyond usability or scrapped for spares by now.

Just pointing out a fact. Honestly, if anyone wants to import a Wira, they’ll probably want to wait until the 2001s are legal, because of Lotus suspension tuning.

Lantis? Isn’t that a mundane Mazda 323F with a wing?
![]() 08/02/2016 at 11:34 |

The Lantis was sold as the 323F elsewhere. The Type R had a 170 hp 2.0 V6.
Either way, we never got them in the US.

You never got the previous gen 323F with the popup headlights either, right?

That’s correct, we never got those either.
